Employee Spotlight: Callum Ridgway

Callum Ridgway, Auger's Senior Technical Support Manager for Water Mains, first joined the team 5 years ago as an Internal Technician, having just finished school at 18. Now a member of our senior team, Callum plays a vital role in coordinating and supporting our external team of Water Mains Engineers.

Callum's work ethic and commitment, combined with mentoring from our Senior Management team, meant that he quickly excelled in his initial role as an Internal Technician. Alongside this, in 2017 he began studying for his Bachelor's Degree in Building Surveying at Liverpool John Moore's University through our Auger Academy programme, providing him with the opportunity to work towards a higher education qualification whilst gaining invaluable experience in the industry.

By 2019, Callum had progressed into the role of Senior Technical Support Manager. Now preparing to enter the final year of his studies, he is currently responsible for our team of 20 Water Mains Engineers, providing them with guidance on day to day on-site challenges, as well as supporting them to pursue their own goals in terms of their professional development. Callum is also central to all in-house technical decisions regarding water mains claims, helping both our internal technicians in proposing suitable solutions and our claims handlers in explaining these works to our customers.

Upon reflection of his journey through the Auger Academy programme to date, he said "The Academy encourages development and provides the opportunity for career progression, and I have been lucky enough to experience this first-hand. The outstanding mentorship that I have received from my colleagues over the years has allowed me to enhance my career prospects, and achieve things that I didn't even think were possible for me when I first joined the Auger team. I have multiple years of managerial experience at the age of 23, which is not something that many people my age can say. I now take pride in guiding the next generation of Auger Academy recruits through the programme, and watching them evolve professionally from beginning to end."

A personal achievement of Callum's is having played rugby at Twickenham Stadium as part of the Men's Cheshire Cup Final in 2019. Furthermore, he participated in the #BRAVETHESHAVE campaign in April 2018, which raised over £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support to fund invaluable brain tumour research, a cause close to Callum's heart. 

We are proud to have supported Callum since the start of his professional journey as an early member of the Auger Academy, and we look forward to seeing him complete his studies and continue to excel in his already promising career.
